Flight

Lighter-than-air flight was re-discovered in the new world after plant pots growing helium-producing plants started going missing or turning up smashed and empty some distance away:
Some gardeners who had been growing these species indoors noted the plants, still in their pots, collecting in the roof space of their greenhouses and sought to find other objects they could attach and levitate.
This soon evolved into simply emptying the fruit into quilted bags suspending platforms to facilitate easier transportation of goods.
Since then, methods of aiming and propelling said contraptions were developed and thus, the blimp was re-invented.
